The Jekyll-Hyde Debate

Lord of minds, Master of words – are you? Do you keep pace with the happenings of the world? Are you an expert in critical thinking and analysing? Do you form opinion on current events? Do you think that there is no one in this world who can challenge your stance on a topic other than yourself? If yes, then join us as we engage in a battle of wits and grits with ‘The Jekyll-Hyde’, a Turncoat debate.

RULES:-

  • The speaker will get 5 minutes to present his/her case. The allotment of time would be:  2 minutes for the motion                                                                                                                       2 minutes against the motion                                                                                                             1 minute for summarising
  • Each participant will get 10 minutes to prepare on the topic.
  • The motions will be sent to the schools via email.
  • Three motions will be released 7 days prior to the event, of which a student would be expected to speak on one of those motions that would be decided through chit system.
  • Each school can send up to two participants.
  • The time limit should be strictly adhered to. Failing to do so will lead to deduction of marks.
  • The participants will be judged on the basis of their Matter, Manner and Method.
  • No interjections are allowed.
  • The decision of the judges will be final and binding.

MOTIONS

It is a level headed discussion rivalry with a turncoat format, here we discharge the themes:

1. This House Believes That Section 124A regarding Charges of Sedition be removed from the Indian Constitution.

2. This House Believes That AFSPA be removed from Jammu & Kashmir and the States of North-East.

3. This House Believes That Indian Government needs to take Proactive measures for Bangladeshi Refugees.
